Jo Elvin

Magazine Editor & Fashion Expert

Australian-born Jo Elvin has had a dream run in British magazines. Her first job in London was as deputy editor on TV Hits magazine, before moving on to become launch editor of Sugar, which changed the way teenage magazines were produced here; then launching B Magazine in 1997, named Launch of the Year by Media Week. In 1999 she was appointed editor of New Woman and steered the title to sales increases. In 2001, Conde Nast asked her to launch Glamour magazine, which as everyone knows, sent shockwaves through the women's market as well as spawning copies of its revolutionary format in several other markets, including the broadsheet press.

Within a week of hitting the shelves in March 2001, Glamour needed to hastily print an extra 50,000 copies to keep up with demand. Its debut ABC figure was over 451,000 and after six consecutive increases, it is well established as the market leader with an ABC of 605,747. In 2002, Glamour snatched away the market leadership that Cosmo had held for 30 years. Glamour is now the highest-selling monthly magazine in Britain and Europe.

Jo has five BSME awards (British Society of Magazine Editors), including the coveted Editor's Editor of the Year award and the PPA's Magazine of the Year award for Glamour.

Jo is a regular on GMTV and LK Today for ITV1, has been an expert panellist on The Apprentice: You're Fired for BBC2 and has made guest appearances in many TV series, including The World's Greatest Pop Star, Mary Queen of Charity Shops and Gok Wan's Miss Naked Beauty.
