Lawrence D'Silva
Presenter & Naturalist
Official Agent: Jo Carlton
Lawrence D'Silva is a presenter, filmmaker and natural world specialist. From working as a safari guide in southern Africa to renewable energy projects and environmental investment in the UK, nature has always been his passion. He aims to entertain and inspire action and debate through film.
Lawrence initially trained in Biological Sciences covering both the environment and medical science, with further studies at the Centre for Environmental Policy. Working in the field of ethical/environmental investment in the City of London stirred his interest for investigative reporting – meeting and quizzing leaders of major multi-national companies on what they are doing for nature and the planet.
His first foray into natural world reporting came at the tender age of 13; a somewhat shaky attempt on an old and basic camcorder. Lawrence developed his skills in factual filmmaking at the Journalism school at City University, London and has gone on to produce several of his own docufilms, which have been commended by the likes of The Guardian, The National Geographic and Huffington Post.
Lawrence is now a frequent reporter for The One Show, presenting short films on nature, wildlife and environmental issues. He has also recently worked on the BBC Studios documentary on biodiversity loss, Extinction: The Facts, presented by Sir David Attenborough for BBC One. On radio, Lawrence has produced content for BBC Radio 4.
After many years of studying and working in nature-related disciplines and being actively involved in conservation projects, Lawrence was delighted to be made a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 2020.
