TV Presenter

Agent: Jo Carlton

Marc Edwards is a news and sports presenter for BBC News (World) and Eurosport and sports news presenter for BBC Breakfast. He is a Top 14 rugby expert and has covered all manner of sport from football, cricket, tennis through to extreme sports. Marc is one of the presenters of the FA People's Cup and has hosted highlights of the First Round for the BBC Red Button service. He has also reported pitch-side for BT Sport Score. Previously one of the news and current affairs anchors for London Live, Marc presented Wake Up London weekday mornings as well as the football show 14 to 1 on Saturdays. He was also the host of Tech 24, a weekly digital technology show on French news network France 24 as well as the channel's night-time news anchor.

In 2012 Marc was chosen by Danny Boyle to be the official announcer of the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where he also presented the fencing events. The London Olympics 2012 Opening and Closing ceremonies have become two of the three most watched TV shows of the past 30 years according to data from Kantar Media — both watched by an average audience in excess of 24 million.

Over the last few years Marc Edwards has been blazing a trail through South East Asia's television world. Those with a keen interest in China will be familiar with his energetic, colourful and charismatic style on China's International News Channel.

Since 2007 Marc has been presenting their flagship show Travelogue and in that time he has been fortunate enough to travel all over Asia in the name of entertainment. His first project was a 3-part series produced in conjunction with National Geographic's travel publication Trends Travel. He kicked off his presenting career fronting their trip along the fabled Tea and Horse Trail, which is one of the highest and most perilous passages of economic and cultural exchanges in the world.

Marc's international upbringing combined with his ability to speak five languages has enabled him to cover international events such as the Beijing 2008 Olympics and the Shanghai World Expo 2010, often interviewing in French or Chinese.

In 2009 he was selected to front China's very first English language travel show in Taiwan, highlighting the island's myriad of charms in a 5-part award-winning series.

A self-confessed “child of globalisation” Marc was born in Paris to a Welsh father and a Malaysian-Chinese mother. Born bilingual he continued his quest to match his multilingual parents by studying languages in Italy, Mexico and China. After graduating from Durham University, where he hosted his own drive-time radio show on Purple FM, he took the fast track route to a successful television career — as a management consultant in the City! And the rest, as they say, is history…
