Naomi Wilkinson co-presents the award-winning Saturday morning show Live 'n' Deadly for BBC2 and the CBBC channel, alongside Steve Backshall. Each week the presenting duo travel the length and breadth of Britain in search of the UK's most deadly animals and enjoy some awesome activities along their way.
The show won the award for Best Children's Series at the Missoula International Wildlife Film Festival as well as the Freesat 2011 award for Best Children's Programming Initiative. Described by the judges as “subtle, clever, respectful and ambitious” Live 'n' Deadly stood out for its exceptional quality and appeal to children. The programme encourages audience participation, interaction and a sense of adventure.
Formerly known as The Milkshake! Lady with her ‘Milkshake! Shake’ and ‘Silly O'Clock Rock’ dance routines, Naomi not only presented the Channel 5 kids strand for an impressive 10 years, but she produced the show too. Her Milkshake! adventures took her around the world and allowed her to meet some of her idols including Elmo and Bear from the Big Blue House. Naomi has produced two BAFTA nominated series The Christmas Milkshake! Show and A Milkshake! Summer and also produced the first series of The Milkshake! Show. This has given Naomi valuable insights into the complex art of programme making whilst showcasing more of her script writing, choreographic and compositional abilities.
Born in Bristol, Naomi originally trained as a dancer and her entertainment career first took off at Butlins where she was one of their famous Redcoats. Her first break in television came when she presented the breakfast show Wakey Wakey for ON Digital.
Naomi presented numerous programmes for Milkshake! including The Milkshake! Show, Monkey Makes, Havakazoo and Milkshake! Bop Box, as well as Finger Tips and The Yuk Show for CiTV. She has enjoyed voicing characters from many current Milkshake! programmes — Mist: Sheepdog Tales, Chiro, Hana's Helpline, Little Lodgers, Angels of Jarm and narrated two documentary series, Play and Family.
In 2007 Naomi was invited over to Philadelphia, USA to help train up the presenting team for their breakfast programme The Sunny Side Up Show for PBS Kids Sprout and she was also the live action host for PBS Kids' Make Way for Noddy.
Naomi has danced her way up and down the UK with the Milkshake! Live Theatre Tour. She has also starred in pantomime as Cinderella at the New Wimbledon Theatre alongside Richard Wilson and John Barrowman and in Aladdin at Cardiff's New Theatre with John Inman. She has just been seen treading the boards once again as Dick Whittington at the Theatre Royal, Bath.
Naomi is a popular face on many CBBC shows including All Over The Place, Jedward's Big Adventure, 12 Again, MOTD Kickabout and Blue Peter in which she took part in a bake-off as part of the Blue Peter Appeal, judged by none other than MasterChef's John Torode.
