Calum Leslie is a radio & TV presenter and journalist who is a familiar voice to millions of listeners every morning, broadcasting the news on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Greg James.

He is one of the presenters for the ARIA-nominated flagship youth news programme, Newsbeat, and has co-presented Life Hacks and the Official Chart First Look on Radio 1. He has also presented Sunday Breakfast on BBC Radio 5 Live, including anchoring extra rolling coverage of the 2025 terror attack on Sydney's Bondi Beach. Calum has also presented the Newscast podcast for BBC Sounds.

On TV Calum co-presented a BBC Three, BBC News Channel and BBC iPlayer streaming special for young voters called Voting For The First Time ahead of the UK general election. He did the same live from Washington DC in US Election 24: Time To Decide, previewing the US presidential vote.

The same year, Calum fronted the BBC iPlayer documentary Gay Marriage And Me, looking at the changes and challenges around equal marriage in the UK a decade on from the law first passing.

He was a regular face co-presenting panel show Seven Days on the BBC Scotland channel and has also reported for Coronation: The UK Celebrates on BBC One and for BBC Two's flagship Newsnight programme.

Calum also presented a two hour BBC iPlayer live stream from the finish line of Radio 1 DJ Jamie Laing's Red Nose Day ultra marathon challenge – reaching millions of viewers across TV and BBC News Online.

From September 2025, Calum fronted a brand new three-part true crime series for BBC iPlayer. Cracking The Case explores a different crime in each episode, unpacking the psychological insights and police processes that put criminals behind bars – while also shining a light on how they see justice served for victims and their families.

He has also appeared as a contestant on BBC Two's The Weakest Link as part of a News and Current Affairs special.

Calum also has experience of hosting live events, including on Greg James's UK book tour, at university award nights and for corporate evenings.

Originally from Glasgow, he grew up in Livingston before starting his career at BBC Scotland. There he covered the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the 2014 independence referendum and the 2015 general election. Calum went on to report live on Euro 2016, Champions League matches, FA Cup finals and World Cup qualifiers for Sky News Radio. He has also worked for BBC Radio 4's Today Programme.

A big sports fan, Calum is a member of the Scotland football Supporters Club and is a regular at home games, as well as at Euro 2024.

Calum is also a golf fanatic who plays whenever he can and regularly follows the latest on professional tours around the world. He has been to countless Open Championships, Scottish Opens, Senior and Women's Opens along with other big tournaments.

He's also been a huge reader since his school days and went on to study English at university. He regularly finds time to relax with a book, and always has a few on the go.
