Calum Leslie is a dynamic radio and television presenter, journalist and broadcaster, with a career spanning some of the biggest news, current affairs and live broadcasting platforms in the UK.

For millions of listeners, Calum is a familiar voice every morning, delivering the latest news on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Greg James. He is also one of the presenters of the ARIA-nominated flagship youth news programme Newsbeat, and has co-presented Life Hacks and The Official Chart First Look on Radio 1.

His broadcasting experience extends across BBC radio, television and digital platforms. On BBC Radio 5 Live, Calum has presented Drive Time and Sunday Breakfast, as well as anchoring major rolling news coverage, including the 2025 terror attack in Sydney's Bondi Beach. He has also presented the Newscast podcast for BBC Sounds.

On television, Calum has built an impressive portfolio of live, factual and documentary work. He has presented VT films for The One Show and co-presented major BBC specials aimed at younger audiences, including Voting For The First Time, ahead of the UK General Election, and US Election 24: Time To Decide, broadcasting live from Washington DC during the US presidential election.

He also fronted the BBC iPlayer documentary Gay Marriage And Me, exploring the changing landscape of equal marriage in the UK a decade after the landmark legislation was passed.

A familiar face on BBC Scotland, Calum regularly co-presented the panel show Seven Days and has reported for major BBC programmes including Coronation: The UK Celebrates on BBC One and Newsnight on BBC Two.

Calum is equally at home in front of a live audience. He presented a two-hour BBC iPlayer livestream from the finish line of Radio 1 DJ Jamie Laing's Red Nose Day ultra-marathon challenge, reaching millions of viewers across TV and BBC News Online. He has also hosted live events ranging from Greg James's UK book tour and university awards ceremonies to corporate events.

In September 2025, Calum took on a new role as presenter of the three-part BBC iPlayer true-crime series Cracking The Case. Each episode delves into a different crime, exploring the psychology behind the cases, the police processes that helped bring criminals to justice and the impact on victims and their families.

Away from presenting, Calum has even stepped into the contestant's chair, appearing on BBC Two's The Weakest Link as part of a News and Current Affairs special.

Originally from Glasgow and raised in Livingston, Calum began his career at BBC Scotland, where he covered major national events including the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the 2014 Scottish independence referendum and the 2015 General Election. He went on to report live on Euro 2016, Champions League matches, FA Cup finals and World Cup qualifiers for Sky News Radio, as well as working for BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

A passionate sports fan, Calum is a member of the Scotland football Supporters Club and a regular at Hampden, as well as following Scotland at major international tournaments, including Euro 2024. He is particularly passionate about golf and has attended countless Open Championships, Scottish Opens, Senior and Women's Opens.

And when he's not behind a microphone or in front of a camera, you'll often find Calum with his nose in a book. A lifelong reader, he studied English at university and still finds time to read whenever he can — usually with several books on the go at once.
